C++ and the internet, just curious

I saw a thread the other day about someone trying to create a program that uses the command prompt to connect to the internet and talk to another person over the internet who is using the program. I am not really familiar with DOS or using the internet with C++. Does anyone know where I can find more information?

I think what you are talking about is using socket programming, I'd suggest searching on google for "beej's network programming tutorial" and that should be able to get it up for you.
