    Monitor For Network Disconnect

This isn't exactly a network question, it deals more with monitoring a computer for an event. Here's the problem:

If anybody here's on a network, they'll know that when one of the computer's shuts off, there's a little icon in the system tray that appears that informs you that "A network cable is unplugged".

I was curious if there was a way to be able to check whether or not that icon is there, or if anybody has any pointers on how to start tackling such a problem.

I'm open to any suggestions or questions, and I appreciate any insight.

    Erik

You could just try pinging that computer, if you want to see if that computer's shut down. Or, you could ping the router to see if your computer is on the network.
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah
