I was wondering where would I find code to play/stop midi files? I know that the sounds they produce are sound card dependant, but I don't mind. I just want to be able to play them in a console app.

Try here. He has a ship-load of MIDI info. I remember having to dig-around to find 'em, but there are some program examples.
