Question I want to learn programming

Does anyone here know programming well enough to teach someone like me. I have very little Dos skills, and the most I've done is a couple of very simple batch files. Please help me out.

your best bet is to read the tutorials on this site. they are an excellent way to get started.
I came up with a cool phrase to put down here, but i forgot it...

First, get a compiler. Here's a list of FREE Compilers. Check out the programing tools page too.

Next, try-out the first couple of tutorials. Here's another http:tutorial.

After that (if you're still interested), you really should consider getting a
book. There's a lot to learn beyond what you will find in tutorials. My recommendation is Teach yourself C++ in 21 Days by Jesse Liberty. The book is structured for self-learning with questions and exercises at the end of each "day" (chapter), and answers and solutions in the back. Warining - Some people hate all of the "21 days" books! If you search the board for "books", you will find more book recommendations opinions & discussion.

You're probably not going to find someone here to "teach you" C++, but you will find lots of people to help you teach yourself!

i think you have pretty much precluded any of us from wanting to help you by mentioning you want to learn it only for malicious purposes.

    NOOO....

This is a big misunderstanding. I don't want to hack people badly, I just wanted to do stuff to like my friends, just to mess with them. Besides, if you're not going to hack people, why would you be trying to be a programmer?

I'm working towards a Computer Science degree and learning programming so that I can contribute to the field of computer science either theoretically through a paper or algorithm or practically through the release of a good program. I am most certainly not going to college just to hack other people's machines

Honestly, I don't think you have what it takes to be a hacker anyway. Hackers have a genuine interest in learning about computers and networks, not just malicous or mischievious motives. A hacker must be willing and able to learn on his own. Your post has shown that you are not independant enough to be a hacker. Also, you have no clue how to use the internet to your advantage. Why post in a C++ forum if you have a question that has nothing to do with C++? There are plenty of cracking sites out there. If you are so inclined, go find them and leave us programmers alone.
    FAQ

"The computer programmer is a creator of universes for which he alone is responsible. Universes of virtually unlimited complexity can be created in the form of computer programs." -- Joseph Weizenbaum.

"If you cannot grok the overall structure of a program while taking a shower, you are not ready to code it." -- Richard Pattis.

    > I really don't want to learn C++
So go away and pester someone else.

    > Besides, if you're not going to hack people, why would you be trying to be a programmer?
No really, go away you insulting and ignorant moron.
One more outbust like that and I'll change your membership for you.
