    The C++ Programming Language

    I just finished reading Accelerated C++ my first C++ book and I want to read a more advanced book then read Effective C++ and after that learn an API. Is The C++ Programming Language a good choice or are there better tutorials or books? If it is a good choice which edition is better 3rd Edition or the Special Edition.

    Do you mean The C++ Programming Language by his author? Well, good book if you already know things about C++ and want to complete your knowledge about the language, but very hard to keep with as a tutorial.

    So can you recommend any tutorials or book that would teach me the C++ covered in that book. I would rather read a tutorial but if there's a really good book I would buy it.

    Well, I actually can't but other people would be able to help you. I can't because I didn't learn with a book but with a tutorial, and it was in French.

    I'm going to get The C++ Programming Language Special Edition since it covers all of C++. Is there a big difference between the special and third edition.

    Its a very good book.

    The only real differences between the standard edition and the special edition are that a) it's hard cover and b) it has two extra appendices on locales and standard library exception safety. So no, not a great deal of difference, but I went for the special edition.

    You may have to pay a little extra for the hardback special edition, but I would suggest you do. I bought the paperback version some time ago and it's the most used C++ book I own. It's quite dog-eared now
