    ms word will work fine with its drawing utilities.

    I've always just used pencil-n-paper(tm).
    The word rap as it applies to music is the result of a peculiar phonological rule which has stripped the word of its initial voiceless velar stop.

    Yeah, pen and paper would be fine too, but I thought I'd check out the available software since I've never used any before.

    I had a flash of inspiration. Go to Sourceforge and do a search on UML. It came up with quite a few promising-looking links for me.
