    Security for files

    Any 1 Can give me tips to How to develop a File Password Verification tool in VC++ in which one can Password Protect the files in Ones harddisk

    how much protection are we talking?
    Simple file xor with pw string?

    AFAIK you can't password protect a file. That is up to the OS (which OS is it anyway?). You can, as mentioned, encrypt the files but they can still be opened by anyone.

    Assign a character like * to your passwordchar property.
    That might help u pull it off.
