    Unhappy confusion

Look, I know this is a dumb question but I am a bit new to programming....can someone tell me is Visual C++ a DIFFERENT language from C++ or is the "visual" part just refering to the microsoft compiler Visual C++ 6.0 for example ? I have read so much recently and now I am completely confused. I can use Vis C++6.0 for compiling C and C++ programs can't I ?

    thanks

thanks salem, I'll bear that in mind. At the moment I am using it mainly to do C programming but thanks for pointing the issue out about compliance with standards for C++.
