    hello, i've got a problem with strings. in my program i have a loop which concatanates strings into one large string; char bigstring[100];
    when i get back to the top of the loop i need to erase all values in bigstring[] so i can replace them with new ones, butdon't know how?

    Set the first array element to 0.

    bigstring[0] = 0;

    Just overwrite them.

    Post your code if you want further help.
    When all else fails, read the instructions.
    If you're posting code, use code tags: [code] /* insert code here */ [/code]

    memset

    I think it is a member of mem.h

    Code:
    memset(bigstring, 0, sizeof(bigstring));
    it takes the name of your string, what you want to initialize it to and the length of the string, simple.

    No, it isn't. memset, as defined by the C++ standard, is in <cstring>.
