    Hi All

I today have just started on C programming as i want to become an Expert on computers and an expert with web sites, my first question on programming is how long does it take to become pretty good at C programming??? and another question how can i get the program to take information from places e.g ip address from a remote computer that i have no control over??? because i am trying to develop a kool program but i need to know a few basic things first to see if i should go ahead with my idea.

C is not used for websites in this day and age. Look into learning a managed language like Java. This will make you happier in the short term, honestly.

and another question how can i get the program to take information from places e.g ip address from a remote computer that i have no control over???
To me this sounds more like a job for the operating system command shell. Look into networking with Windows 2000 Professional.

Also, how long does it take to learn C? Hard to say what you mean by that. Learning the language syntax takes about 4 months, but learning how to write professional applications takes much longer.

    "take information from places"

what a description, it leaves nothing to be desired.

"how long does it take blah blah blah"

It took me about 2 months to get comfortable with the features of C++ that are used mainly far and wide. I had a lot of motivation though, so that definitely was a contributing factor to speedy learning.
