easy way to find time stuff

hey, can someone please give me just a quick snippet of code that will get the current time in hours, seconds, minutes, days, etc.? thanks a lot, I lost all my reference data when my hard-drive crashed, and I don't feel like looking for it again.

    -edit-

ie: I am writing to a log file, and I want to write the time the program started, the time it ended, and the time in between
