What the hell is going on?

I know the subject isn't very useful, but its all I could think of...

My problem is that if I try to open/close a file within a loop or if...else it doesn't work. It won't close a file which has been opened in the main program if the fin.close(); is in a sub routine.

Does anyone know why or a way to get around this. I'm using Dev-C++
