    Which is better?

Which is better to use to display a picture a .bmp, .jpg , .gif or what.... As in speed Little CPU usage and such... I don't want to waste all this memory on displaying a picture that only adds to the feel of the program.

    Bitmap.
It's not compressed or encoded, so you don't (or the CPU doesn't) have to decode it before sending it to video memory.

For disk space, another format may be preferable. But if you're talking about CPU cycles and memory, bitmap works better. Any compressed image will be stored in memory uncompressed if it is to be viewed.
