There is no better book for learning the win32 api in my opinion. Make sure u get the fifth edition. he has a new book out now called programming windows with c# but as yet i havent read it.
Dont worry that the code samples are all in c. for anyone familiar with c++ you should understand everyline.
Free the weed!! Class B to class C is not good enough!!
And the FAQ is here :- http://faq.cprogramming.com/cgi-bin/smartfaq.cgi

For, the GUI api perhaps, but as everyone knows (or is it just me?) that GUI programming is as dull as dishwater. Go for "Programming Applications for Microsoft Windows" by Jeffrey Richter. Much more interesting (IMO).
I have both and they are both very good. Petzold would be better to start out though......Originally posted by Enmeduranki

You might not be able to benefit too much from Richter's book at this stage (asuming at this stage you are interested in creating windows on screen etc...)...The book is a great compliment after Petzold....
Well... the order went through... I sould be getting it around thursday.
