    Question Counting Up and Down... time/percent

    I would like to be able to print out a number... count up or down but the problem is I don't want to reprint the line every time the number goes up or down one unit. I have heard of clearing the screen every time you reprint the line but I would rather not do that... For example using fdisk or format and it just counts up the percent.

    I don't need to know how to count just how to reprint the variable without reprinting the whole line.

    Thank You

    look at the \b and the \r special characters
    Code:
    printf("test\b\b");
    this prints "test" then deletes the ending t and s
    \r simply moves the cursor to the beginning of the line.

    if you're not interested in this fairly portable solution, you could look at gotoxy()

    int x, y;

    x = wherex(), y = wherey(); //...save coords..

    gotoxy(2, 10); //...go to counter

    printf("%i", count);

    gotoxy(x, y); //...restore old coords...

    ...very non-portable, though. Windows machines...
    Code:
    #include <cmath>
    #include <complex>
    bool euler_flip(bool value)
    {
        return std::pow
        (
            std::complex<float>(std::exp(1.0)),
            std::complex<float>(0, 1)
            * std::complex<float>(std::atan(1.0)
            *(1 << (value + 2)))
        ).real() < 0;
    }
