    Thanks guys! I have 12 weeks to figure it out. I wish school was all 5 page research papers. Is it just me or do people find it a lot better then dumb group posters? Man I hate high school...

    er, about the strstr() bit i'm not sure it won't be faster. rep scasb could be used to speed it up, so a clever coder could write a faster strstr() than your compiler can compile your c loops. then, it all depends on the compiiler writers..
