    sound libraries

Yes I already tried searching this topic and no posts came up. Anyway my question is this: is there any way to actually edit mp3 files using any sound library? I would like to do some simple things such as delete portions of songs and what not.

The sound libraries I know of are : Allegro (I think this is a sound library), SDL (allows you to play wavs and mp3s as far as I know), DirectSound(blah), OpenAL(is this even released yet?)

If someone could tell me of more sound libraries or how to write a program that allows editing mp3 files or just point me to a tutorial I will be happy.

There are also 2 useful audio APIs called FMOD and BASS. Try a search for them on google.
