This may seem like a dumb question, but here goes...
I have been using .txt files whereas I see others using .dat or something else. I usually end up opening .dat file with notebook. Does my computer not support .dat files or am I doing something wrong?
I think I have asked this before.
The extension ".txt" or ".dat" do not matter. You can name a ".txt" file to a ".dat" file. What matter is how you read the file.
It is normal for a ".dat" file to be opened using notepad or wordpad on a window system.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
"It is normal for a ".dat" file to be opened using notepad or wordpad on a window system. "
no exactly... it is only normal for windows to open it using notepad if you ask it to do so... as a default it wont be opened by anything... *.dat's are just data files that are used for man applications, some are human legible other are machine lang etc...
