    Question Parralle, COM or USB

Hi, I dont know if any one can help me out, I'm very new to C++ in fact I'n still doing a course on it. What i would like to know is what sort of programme or info can I get from the ports with out major programming skills. I'll give you a quick break down of whati want to try and do. I want to make a probe the will send a posative signal to the programme to Start a counter and then another signal to stop the counter??

Any help or avise would be most greatfull.

    Andy

I'm also learning here, but this I can tell you...
If I understood you correctly you want to detect port activity and start/stop a counter based on said activity. If that is the case, although I don't know the answer, i know that without major programming skills, you won't be able to gain that kind of hardware access.
