Thread: the difference between .....

Hello, Maybe this is the wrong room to ask but I have a question between VC++ 6.0 and the new VC++ .NET.

I just starting out with programming in C++ and I have VC++ 6.0 studio but I could get the new one from school at a good price ($98 or so). Now my question is, should I? I mean what is the main difference between the two? I also noticed the the .NET studio doesn't come with all the programs that VC++ 6.0 studio does (Not that i know how to program in those, maybe someday I will). Does anyone know why? Is it an expansion to the 6.0 one or a whole new version? Now I know I can go to the Microsoft website but I need a real world answers, from people who actually have used it, (or not, would still like to hear your opinion).

Please post your suggestions or comments. I would really want to know what you can you with .NET that you can't do without 6.0.
