I know void main() is wrong, to use int main() return 0, and why, but where does void main() come from? Is it from C, earlier versions of C++, or what? Even some MSDN examples use void main().

Mostly all the crap books which assume that you're using the crap M$ compilers which traditionally have let you get away with void main.
