    C++ is not outdated. It is still widely used in the industry, even more so for any type of game.
    It will also become more important in the future as optimization and multi-core processors become all the more common.

    I'd say C++ is the number one language for large performance critical projects on a desktop pc. Gaming is a prime example.
    It is too clear and so it is hard to see.
    A dunce once searched for fire with a lighted lantern.
    Had he known what fire was,
    He could have cooked his rice much sooner.

    gaming, critical?

    I'd say traffic control software for a highways agency, or trading software for an investment bank is a tad more critical
    Both may very well be written in C++ (though other languages are a possibility).

    Critical != Performance Critical

    Slow and Steady wins the race... if and only if :
    1.None of the other participants are fast and steady.
    2.The fast and unsteady suddenly falls asleep while running !
