making much progress with encryptor

The reason why your suggestions on skipping spaces and returns werent working is for one reason. When i use fin>>plaintext; it gets up until a soace, and stops. has nothing to do with ciphering.

so will someone please tell me how to make

Use ifstream::getline(char, length, delimiter);

eg.

ifstream fin("filename.txt");

char happyChar[255];

fin.getline(happyChar, 255, '\n');
