I cant figure out what it does!
The % is the modulo operator. It gives you the remainder of a division. You might remember back when floating point numbers were unknown to you in class 1 to 4, you had results like this:
9 divided by 4 is 2 remainder 1.
This is what the % does.
9/4 is 2
9%4 is 1
