Thread: can i use visual basic C++ to link with database?

hi,

I'm a newbie in database system. My question is can i use visual basic studio to create a C++ GUI application and link it with the database system? Does a database system can be created by using visual studio? the database system that can be created using visual studio is so call a sql server or asp.net some sort like that?(abit confuse with these)
