    help with smarts

I would like to start off by saying even though I have one new post I am not someone new getting on here trying to advertise. I've looked at this forum as a guest for a long time, I'm learning C++ and most of you on here are geniuses. It's amazing listening to you all. I just made a forum, Code Program Writing.com.com. It is pretty plain so far but I am working on adding cool things like a portal for game programmers. One thing we really need is some really smart people that can really answer questions good. Most people on here are learners. It would be great if any of you are feeling up to branching out to this forum. Also, there are many open positions for moderators and even a possible administrator for active users. This is a non-profit website, I'm not advertising for self benefit.

I'm not sure why another programming-help forum is needed, but I have to congratulate you on the beautiful design of your forum.

Kinda hard to take someone seriously who is doing exactly what they say they are not doing. However innocent the circumstances may be, this is still actually advertising. I'll give you this... you don't seem to have spammed other forums with the same message, so kudos to you.

I see what you mean about needing more knowledgable people. There's this "-Ace-" moderator who seems to think that void main is valid C++.

The longer a site has been around, the longer it's likely to stay around. Not going to join just yet, but not saying I wouldn't either.

Killing him might be a better option. Giving such advices to new programmers should be penaltied with death! ( Electrocution! )

Here's another gem from -Ace-: "I program in C++ all the time and make alot of projects every day and i have never needed to know what vector was and i have never used it."

I get maybe two dozen requests for help with some sort of programming or design problem every day. Most have more sense than to send me hundreds of lines of code. If they do, I ask them to find the smallest example that exhibits the problem and send me that. Mostly, they then find the error themselves. Lol. When I read you saying that I was like: ahh well, maybe he copied a code snippet. Or maybe he didn't know it had to be int which is at least somewhat acceptable, though bordering unacceptable for an admin.
Then I noticed he actually tried to correct someone saying the right thing. That is dreadful.

Apparently the guys doesn't know anything - which is okay for an admin/moderator, maybe - but thinks he knows his stuff.
That's just outright pathetic. Made sure I'll never visit the forums again, so thanks for pointing it out.
Though it's unlikely I would have visited it otherwise, these forums are great and way more active anyway.

    Another classic quote of him:

(Damn, laserlight beat me to it... I didn't see his post before I edited my post to include it :P But I edited this post like 5 times already)

Edit... And I consider this kind of awful as well:

Who cares about php security? RFI's? SQL Injections? Let's just use some app that magically fixes it all! And that second link is even worse...

    Same thread, about php:

I'd love to, but registering without a register button is about 25% harder.

    Hope this helped!!

Dunno about you, but I find it 100% harder. I clicked on the login link, then on the register link, and was greeted by the message:
Creating a new account is currently not possible.

Sounds like that would be infinite % harder. Of course, we could always use some sql injections, if they didn't protect against it with "McAfee SECURE™ for Websites".
