anybody know how to use directX with mingw?

I've read a few pages on this, but i still can't get it to work.

If you are on a Windows machine do yourself a favor and download MSVS 2010 express. It will save you a lot of needless heartache and make your experience with DirectX a bit more pleasant.

I can't get any of the examples to compile in vc08, I've add the include folder and libs, but too many errors. vc2010 runs way to slow on my machine. plus, I've tried to load my mingw project into vc08 and i get a lot of errors.
