    getline.

    And std::string is a class (not a function).

    How many tens or hundreds of thousands of times do you think such information appears on the net?!

    Are you familiar with the acronym STFW? We're not here for those that are way too lazy to use a search engine. You have your search terms - go!

    @iMalc - Look A$$hole, people come to forums asking for help, yeah maybe this topic has come up thousands of times, what of it? If you're not gonna help, then GTFO. I have looked and some just don't make sense.
    @ctrl_freak: Thank you.

    You may not think it now, but the most useful thing anyone can do for you is to help you to help yourself. I'm simply trying to open your eyes as to how most of us would have reacted to your first post. Do you believe that an "STFW" answer is never appropriate? You're going to run in to answers like that anyway, and not everyone will be as polite as I was, as you've just demonstrated.

    Please, if you do do some searching on the net and can't find what you're after, tell us what search terms you used, tell us which site you found that were too confusing for you. Help to make sure that we don't simply suggest the same articles again that you've already read. Also, do this at the very least if you don't want to come off the way you did.
    If your searching skills aren't up to it, then try asking what would be search terms to use. There's no shame in that.
    Also, tell us specifically which bits you do understand and which bits you don't follow.

    It's your lack of doing the above 3 things that rightly earned you an STFW. Try not to earn one next time huh.
