    Class templates

    In the book I am going by, the author shows an example of a class template. He puts the member function templates in the .h file. I thought it was just to save time, but whenever I make a class template and try to write the function templates in the .cpp file for the class I get a compiler error. Why is this? Why do I have to write them in the .h file?
