Read books about programming and object oriented design. Try the book "Beautiful Code" at
Beautiful Code | O'Reilly Media . That book will mention other books to follow up on.
Write programs. Try to answer questions on this board.
Yes - nothing teaches you better than doing it. Think up / find practice problems and solve them.Write programs.
Try to write an OS using C++
