    What does D2D have to do with Vista? It's been newly introduced for Windows 7.
    It will be ported to Vista, but then again, I don't know if it will be used internally for Vista.

    Aero was a source of significant slowdown and as such has been ovehauled. I though Aero was using D2D but I must have gotten confused since MSDN obviously states it is for W7.

    I believe Aero uses D3D...
    I don't know how much of a slowdown Aero was. Not much, I'd say, to my own experience. But it was a resource hog. That much is known.
    And I don't think Aero has been overhauled. Improved, yes.
    At least I haven't heard of any such information.
