Post School and the importance of a degree

Im 17 years old and know c pretty well and im learning c++ right now. Im just wondering what kind of options i have as far as schooling and a degree. Is it necessary to get a 4 yr comp. science degree or can i get hired if i am self tought. How hard is it to break into the industry w/o a degree. I eventually want to program games, but for a first programming job it really wouldn't matter, just to get started. thanks for the advice.

Try to get the CS degree. Being a programmer is much more than just programming, and CS will hopefully teach that.

She was so Blonde, she spent 20 minutes looking at the orange juice can because it said "Concentrate."

When in doubt, read the FAQ.
    Then ask a smart question.
