    Question Good books?

    I need some good C++ books for begginers. Is C++ for dummies any good? or does that only explain a certain compiler? I need a few books actually...begginer books, and complete reference books... Everyone submit all the books that fall under those two catagories(i'm rich, i'll buy em all)!

    Well it was QUE's Turbo C++ By Example that got me on the road to my masterly skills!

    Not to mention the Waite Group's Turbo C: Programming for the PC (old but EXCELLENT) and Lippman's C++ Primer.
    Current Setup: Win 10 with Code::Blocks 17.12 (GNU GCC)

    Teach Yourself C++ in 21 Days
    C++ Unleashed

    Both are pretty good and are available online for free.

    I got one called Practical C++ Programming published by O'Reilly. Pssst... NEVER buy anything with the phrases "teach youself", "in [amount ] [time period]" (like learn C++ in 24 hours), and "for dummies". They tend to be crappy. Also Beginning C++ published by Wrox is a good C++ book.

    One of the best books I've got is the "C/C++ Programmer's Reference Second Ed." I really like the Osborne/McGraw-Hill and O'Reilly books. I've also got Practical C++ (QUE) as a reference but I never really used it much (seems pretty good though).

    I personally don't like the teach in whatever time books but I know people that love them and think that they are great. That's why I posted it.

    C++ for Dummies is a bad book. Not only is it unclear, but it expects knowledge of C. Jamsa's C/C++ Programmer's Bible is an interesting approach to teaching C++ with questions and answers.

    The 2 that I posted earlier assume no programming experience.

    Is "C++ From The Beginning" any good? It got good reviews at amazon.com. They said that it can take you from no experience to medium experience... Sounds good... anyone hear of this book?
