    Chess Tournament

This might seem a little unorthodox, but I think it would be cool to have like a cboard chess tournament. Chess is a thinkin' man's game so I think it would be cool to see who amoung us would reign supreme. Maybe we could play on yahoo or pogo or zone.com . (Has this been done before? and if so, how did it turn out?)

    anyone interested?

if so, myself or perhaps a moderator would be willing to set up a ladder structure. tournaments would be sheduled between individual opponents.

I wanted to set something up a few weeks ago (check GD), but I'm lacking the time. I think it was decided that yahoo would be the best place for it. I really doubt a moderator will help you out on this bud :rolleye: but if you're willing to do something, and it'll be a convenient time, I'm in as well.

At this point.. poll does not indicate an overwhelming amount of people who would be willing to participate.. (was hoping to get at least 10 or 12 people)

You can count on me, although I'm not good at chess!

Not to be pessimistic but I think something like this should be thought of like the projects you see on the project board. Decent interest the first week or two, then people either forgetting or simply not caring anymore messing up any preplanned schedules. I would shoot for a one night tourney instead of a drawn out ladder structure. Get as many people as possible to join that night, then depending on how it goes consider future competitions.

I would play if it was a one night thing.

    yea im in!

    but on two conditions:

    1) its a one night thing

    2) there are different skill levels (i.e. beginner, intermediate, advanced (if we get enough people))

btw i think i could say im a beginner-intermediate player
