    However, there is a C Qt binding... The general rule has been if your a KDE developer use Qt, and if your a Gnome developer use GTK+. It seems to hold true in most cases...

    Take your pick from the various suggestions,

    * Qt with a C binding
    * GTK+
    * DirectFB

    I would suggest GTK+, due to licencing and portability. Not to mention it's host language is C

    You probably could use GTK+, since Ubuntu uses Gnome.

    GTK works with C and gtkmm for C++
