Making Windows Terminal Window Stay Open

I use Cygwin to compile my C files. After compilation, i'm left with a .exe file. If I copy this file to my desktop and execute it via double clicking it, a windows terminal window pops up, runs the program, and immedietly closes. How can I make it so that the window stays open after the program executes?
