    Command prompt problem

    I'm busy on a C tutorial, and I got stuck.

    Code:
    #include <stdio.h>

    int main()
    {
      int this_is_a_number;

      printf( "Please enter a number: " );
      scanf( "%d", &this_is_a_number );
      printf( "You entered %d", this_is_a_number );
      getchar();
      return 0;

    }
    When I run the program, and I enter a number, I press enter and and the program closes,,,

    Can anyone help me?

    > getchar();
    1 getchar() to remove the newline left by scanf
    1 getchar() to wait for you to press enter to end the program
    If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
    If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.
