How to search within a binary file

Hey Hammer, I wanted him to figure this out by himself. That's why I asked him those questions hoping he will realize his mistakes by answering on my questions about List. But never mind, I hope this can help khpuce to understand what was going on with his code and why.

That was a very nice explanation Hammer. To be honest, I didn't think like that and thought it was ok as long as I was getting the desired output on the screen. I actually didn't understand (or try to understand ) what was actually happening behind the scene. So, thank you Hammer for clarification.
