No one was picking on you or implying you were stupid for your answer. You'll know for sure when that happens. Rather, the infromation was for the both of you.
It was for the origional poster, so they'd have two well written articles on what exactly is going on. Likewise, it was for you, so that you have a point of reference for every time this happens in the future. So that, rather than you typing all of that up again, you can simply do what Dave did, and provide links to the information on the problem.
There's a reason it's in the FAQ. Twice. It's because it gets brought up all the time. (That's what the F in FAQ stands for. Frequently.)
So in the future, rather than feeling like you need to defend your post, or type it all up again, you too can simply point people to the FAQ entry. Or rather, two of them.
