    >Not very good reasoning for a self-confessed bunch of anal pendants!

lol Ok. Am I sensing some hostility here? I was merely trying to avoid any confusion for the OP and I do understand your were explaining a metaphor, however if X is the invitation on your first line then on your second line Y needs the address of your invitation. It's confusing.

    >Your "correction" to the second part
I'm not the one who suggested that change, please don't imply that under a direct quote of mine. I'm well aware that the correction was equally inaccurate.

    >I was presenting a metaphor to help the OP undersand
    >pointers, not trying to write a working program.
When you post anything that looks like source code, it should either be commented with explicit statements saying that it is C-like pseudocode, or it should compile.

Try reading for comprehension. If you want to .......... about someone correcting you incorrectly, at least quote the right person.

The address of the invitation, following the metaphor is the location of X ... &X.

It's only confusing if you're silly enough to try and compile a metaphor. (hint: source code works better)

Hostility... yeah, maybe a little... Long story, not your problem... sorry about that.

    *sigh*

I'm through with this thread, it's not worth the hassle to put you in your place. Cboard is running too slow right now.

    Nice going ldblake.

OP - post your questions as you come to them.

    Closed.
