    where can i download a free and easy to use compiler? can be command-based

    Windows based, nice IDE, lots of libraries... and free.

    i recommend using Dev-C++ which you can get to by following the link to bloodshed.net above ^
    i've used it since i started programming in C / C++ and its an overall good compiler..

    the link ldblake posted doesnt lookk too promising. Get Dev-C++ it's what I use even though I have other commercial compilers.
