If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

I'm using the SAMS Teach yourself C in 21 days: Fifth Edition
book...It's ok...Most American books are terrible. If you notice you'll be learning something and then they'll give you a program that introduces a new topic and the book will say "We'll go over it in more detail on page 400 and you are on page 150. There is one great written book I read, it has pictures of liek street signs on the cover, I can't remember the title. Good luck

The C Programming Language by Kernighan and Ritchie. It's so informative that you'll have to go through it a few times before you get the majority of the information contained within, but once you do you'll have a _VERY_ good idea of how C works straight from the guys who created the language.

Might be confusing for Windows people, though. They're also two of the guys who created UNIX so it would help if you use GNU/Linux, *BSD, etc as your OS, I've found that a little Linux experience goes a long way with that book.
