    Charles Petzold's Programming Windows

I was just at the book store to order Charles Petzold's Programming Windows and it wasn't there. So I placed an order. He asked me whether I wanted the Win 95 version or the 5th edition. He said 5th edition was latest. Which do I want to learn Windows programming in Windows 98 and up? I thought somebody previously said to get Programming Windows 95 and it is a lot like 98, but 5th edition is the latest edition. Which do i get? Thanks.

hmm...ok, I just posted a reply but for some reason it got deleted...stupid board...

I'd say to get 5th edition (what I have), but if 95 has a better chapter on common controls, get that.

Well, I couldn't see the books, so I'm just going to take my chance with 5th edition. Don't you agree?

5th would be the way to go.

Yeah it's pretty fun doing API stuff. Heaps better than just doing straight C.
    Ramble on...

yea. i've heard that Petzold's stuff is bible for api. btw, have you tried mfc at all? you still have to use a lot of api there but it's a bit more user-friendly...

Yeah, I'll go with 5th edition then.

No, null, I don't think that I'm going to be working with MFC. For one, isn't MFC a C++ thing? I'm going to be programming Windows applications with C. Secondly, I want to work with core API. You know, the "fun" stuff. Thanks.
