    Hey,

    Could you make you question more clear ?

    What I think, you want to ask is...

    "Can a person program AI (Artificial Intelligence) in C comfortably?"

    First, true AI I believe is impossible, so I just voited no right off the bat. Also, to make a fake one, there's a whole lot of views you have to take. You need originiality and felixibility - Assembler. You need prewritten code that was designed just for fun projects like this - BASIC and PASCAL. You need the availability of higher level languages in order to get the best books an equipment - C. The list goes. If you do use a C derived language, I'd actually recommend using C++, but NOT Java.

    What's your goal? Learning C or AI? Perhaps both?

    I think your decision should depend on the answers on those questions. Personally I believe that if you only want to learn AI, then you should take a programming language which is designed for doing AI. It is the same as: should I learn Java for embedded system programming? Take the language which fits best to the application, so I would choose a AI language like Lisp or Prolog.

    I don't know that many lang but I fail to see why any major lang should be a limitation to an AI. It really gonna come down to who is behind the keyboard.

    Using a language designed for creating AI is much easier than using a language designed for other things or just a general purpose language. The same is with math. You use the language of math to calculate and explain things, you don't want to use words, that would take a lot of effort. Just like one would use C++ instead of C when one wants to do object oriented programming. So it is not really limiting, but using a language designed for the thing you want to do makes live easier.

    is true ai possible- you ask. my anwser is simply no never, why? because no matter how complex a program becomes everything it does still is defined by the programer it will always be a "program" and what is a program look it up in your dictionary , a program is a set of instructions so no matter what or how realistic a so called "AI" is its still just a set of instructions on a computer. so no program can ever have true "ai" 'cause after all it can never do anything thats not in its instuctions- it looks like it learns you say? its not realy learning only disecting information and useing it in a way that you defined..
    that why there can never be a program with so called "AI"

    >> First, true AI I believe is impossible

    Do you think, we humans have true AI?

    If YES ->
    We have a sort of program in our minds, which makes us true AI beings, which means that true AI is possible. This AI might have been developed by God or produced by co-incidence (as many scientists believe). In both cases, true AI is possible.

    If we try hard, we may program such an AI. Maybe in the years to come someone will produce an AI as strong as Human Beings, or maybe even more advanced.

    Remember, someone said a similar thing about aeroplanes and television...

    If NO ->
    What do you think is this "TRUE AI" ?

    We humans, also have a stored set of conditions upon, which we behave. Hence, we also don't have any intelligence of our own? We only act upon pre-fed conditions? Then why are we called truly intelligent beings ? How would you define an "AI"?

    IMO, "a program which has a stored set of actions for every possible situation/condition/input (it may even have a single action/output for the whole sub-set of unknown conditions), and which can alter this set by it's own means/will, is an AI".

    The source for such a program maybe written in 10 lines or in 100000000000 lines .... the possibility exists

    Let's say, someone makes an emulator for running the program which is inside of the human brain on Windows 98...wouldn't the program be a true AI ? The human brain also must function on some instructions. Is this set of instructions not perfect AI ?

    - think about it

    You're wrong here (produced by co-incidence (as many scientists believe)). I think that 90% of all people on this world knows that the HI (human I) have been developed by co-incidence. And one more thing. If you do not know that yet, there is no god. Beacuse of the ****ing religion we have today terrorists and fanatics and all that ****.

    About the AI there are maybe 10 or 20 years and the AI will be self-aware. This AI won't run on the 0 1 machines, but it will run on neurons (something like that).

    I saw some previous posts and someone wrote that there is no way that there will ever be AI. Let me tell you something pal, you are just the ignorant person.
    Current projects:
    1) User Interface Development Kit (C++)
    2) HTML SDK (C++)
    3) Classes (C++)
    4) INI Editor (Delphi)

    So you don't believe in God because of terrorists? Is that what you're saying?

    An interesting link to a recent article on AI on CNN.com. It talks about something called Cyc (pronounced "psych") that is already being used by Lycos to generate more relevant search results. It's a project to build a knowledge base of common-sense and have the program interpret that knowledge and ask questions. In 1986 the darned thing asked if it was human and later asked if any other computers were engaged in learning like it was.
    "Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are god. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods."

    90% of ALL people on this world, the total population of people on this world is 100%. ;-)
