OK, you've stated your intent, but what is your question?
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

You have my permission to go ahead and make the changes.
C + C++ Compiler: MinGW port of GCC
    Version Control System: Bazaar

How much cash are you willing to offer in advance?
    Crossfire likes this.
Right 98% of the time, and don't care about the other 3%.

    No idea about what?

It seems to me you have no idea why you chose the course you're on, which is a much bigger problem than any single assignment.

Why do I get the feeling you just "found" some code for your C6x (or were just given it - it doesn't matter, you didn't write it), and you want someone else to bust their ass converting it to TMS320VC5510 just so you can claim the credit.

Unless this is some trivial "read a switch / flash a light" program, you'll need:
    - good knowledge of the old hardware.
    - good knowledge of the new hardware.
    - good to excellent knowledge of embedded C programming in general.
    - fair to good knowledge of the nature of the application (signal filtering, or whatever it is your code does on DSP hardware).

If you can't claim 3 out of 4 (you wouldn't be here if it were 4 out of 4), then this is going to be hard work for you.

If you're at 0 out of 4 (clueless), then you should take the assignment back to your boss/tutor and confess that you're simply not able to do this assignment.

If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.
