    How to write a C program that downloads data from the internet?

    I'm looking to basically make a program that can compare data from several different sites (and different areas within those sites), then download the appropriate data.

    Also, i'm wondering, is it possible to write a program that could sort of "investigate" the website to see what url it should be connecting it to; for example a program that checks what Wikipedia's latest news is and then copies text from the headline article.

    What functions can do this? Does anyone know where I could learn more about this?

    Thanks in advance...

    How much experience do you have with programming?

    This is not beginner stuff... just because you can write a parking lot program does not mean you are ready to write a search engine...

    Well, there's always libcurl...
    Code:
    if( numeric_limits< byte >::digits != bits_per_byte )
        error( "program requires bits_per_byte-bit bytes" );
    24bbs.cpp
