Thread: is it true that .exe file will run only on windows platform ??

    Not sure if you're serious but the answer is the boot loader. Although, it doesn't stick around after the OS has started.

    Well the boot loader is stored in ROM, which is run by a set of hard coded instructions in a CPU, executed when it's turned on. Then the boot loader will do it's very simple tasks to start the OS, then the OS takes over.
