    Hi all im trying to complete the challenges on project euler and i am stuck on the following.

    Code:
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include <stdlib.h>

    int main(void){

      unsigned long int final = 0;
      unsigned long int total = 0;

    /* search left + right */
    for (int x = 0; x < 1 ; x++){
        for (int y = 0; y < 16 ; y++){
            for(int i = 0 ; i < 4; i++){
                 total *= numbers[x][y+i];
                 printf("number is %d\n",numbers[x][y+i]);
                 printf("total is %d\n",total);

                 }
        }
        if(total > final)final = total;
    }

    printf("the final is %d",final);
    return 0;
    }
    The problem im having is
    Code:
    total *= numbers[x][y+i];
    The numbers appear to be correct but nothing is getting added to the total.

    what am i doing wrong ?

    I am using bloodshed dev c++ using -std=c99 if that helps any.

    many thanks

    * is multiplication.
    + is addition.

    Quzah.
    Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
