    C programming beginner

I am halfway through A Complete Course In C Programming for the Beginner, Learn C on the Mac by Dave Mark. What I have learned from this book, is all I know about C programming. I want to become a proficient C programmer. I know I need to be very careful as to how I proceed with my studies. My goal is C programming in, but not limited to, tcp/ip and udp/ip. However, before I get there, I know there is a lot more to learn beyond the scope of the book.

What do you guys recommend my next book or course of action should be, besides visiting this site frequently?

Expert guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I am probably one of the least qualified 'regulars' on this board to comment, but that won't stop me anyway...

If you want to know about tcp/ip programming, save up your money, and get the books by W. Richard Stevens. You won't go wrong with any of them, and you will learn plenty if you work at it.

Beyond that, just keep writing code. You will get better and better at it. While you do this, make sure you are always just a little bit out of your league, so to speak. This will cause you to rise to a new level of understanding.

In the meantime, if network programming interests you, have a look here.
