    "\r" the return character

    Hi,
I just learned that if the previous output to stdout is formatted ending with "\r", the next output would erase and start at the last line of previous output.
Furthermore, Is it possible to start at any line of previous output except the last line?
    Thanks!

You can never go up (with standard tools). \r doesn't erase the line, it merely puts the "cursor" back at the start of the current line.
